IonQ is hiring a staff software engineer for the System Orchestration team in Oxford, working hybrid. The role is hands-on: building and operating services that schedule quantum programs, manage calibration, give exclusive hardware access, stream results and keep run records across the quantum fleet. The posting asks for deep systems engineering, production stateful services, Rust or another systems language, PostgreSQL, durability and crash recovery, and scheduling/workflow experience. It stresses cross-team design work, failure diagnosis on live systems and tooling/test infrastructure; no previous quantum-systems experience is required.
