IonQ is hiring a senior scientist for its UK Science team in Oxford to help develop the next generation of trapped-ion quantum computers. The work combines designing and running experiments, prototyping coherent control and cooling schemes for qubits, calibrating and benchmarking systems for gate and circuit fidelity, and validating new trap technologies with integrated electronics and photonics. A PhD in physics and hands-on experimental AMO or qubit experience are required; Python or Rust helps. The role sits alongside IonQ's laser-free control and silicon-foundry fabrication work.
