IonQ is hiring a senior backend engineer for the team building its Network and Security Platform, the infrastructure behind quantum-safe network monitoring. The work covers high-throughput telemetry ingestion from large device fleets, time-series storage, Kafka streaming, and REST/gRPC APIs, written in Go or Rust, deployed on Kubernetes with Terraform across three clouds. The posting asks for six or more years of backend experience, distributed systems fundamentals, and on-call ownership. The role works alongside a principal architect, mentors junior engineers, and is onsite in Santa Clara with up to 15% travel.
