PsiQuantum is hiring a mechanical design engineer in Daresbury for R&D on photonic hardware used in optical quantum computing. The work covers precision mechanical and thermal design, enclosures and packaging, analysis and simulation, prototype build, and validation with photonics and systems colleagues and suppliers. Candidates need a mechanical engineering or related qualification or equivalent experience, about one to two years in demanding hardware work, CAD and drawing skills, and modelling experience. The role emphasises manufacturable, stable hardware and welcomes apprenticeship or laboratory routes.
