IonQ seeks a senior research scientist to develop fault-tolerant quantum algorithms for trapped-ion systems. The work includes client-facing problem definition, comparing fault-tolerant, NISQ and classical HPC approaches, building resource models and implementation libraries, publishing peer-reviewed results, and representing IonQ at technical conferences. Applicants should have a STEM bachelor’s plus documented fault-tolerant algorithm expertise, publications or patents, and strong communication; a PhD and C++, Python, Qiskit or similar SDK experience are preferred.
