IonQ's Control Electronics team designs every custom board-level electronic assembly that sits around the trap inside its quantum computers. This senior electrical engineer splits time roughly evenly between schematic capture and simulation and bench work: precision analog, RF, mixed-signal DAC/ADC, FPGA and high-speed logic layout, signal and power integrity, then characterization with oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers and self-written test scripts. The posting wants substantial analog board design experience, lab fluency, and a bachelor's degree or equivalent; a PhD is not required.
