Steve Girvin of Yale University presents this online tutorial on hybrid quantum processors that combine discrete-variable qubits with continuous-variable oscillators. Aimed at computer scientists, engineers and physicists, it covers experimental, algorithmic and architectural aspects across superconducting, trapped-ion and neutral-atom platforms. The session discusses abstract machine models, instruction set architectures, hardware-software codesign and resource estimation, with examples including state transfer, the quantum Fourier transform, lattice gauge theory simulation and quantum signal processing. Hosted by Kai-Mei Fu of C2QA and the University of Washington.
