Atom Computing
Builds gate-based quantum computers using arrays of optically trapped neutral atoms as qubits.
Atom Computing was founded in January 2018 by Ben Bloom and Jonathan King. It develops quantum computers based on arrays of optically trapped neutral atoms, using nuclear spins as qubits. In July 2021, the company unveiled Phoenix, its 100-qubit system. In October 2023, it announced a system with more than 1,000 qubits. In November 2024, Atom Computing and Microsoft reported entangling 24 logical qubits and demonstrating error detection, correction, and computation with 28 logical qubits. In 2025, Atom Computing sold an on-premises quantum computer to QuNorth, a Nordic quantum initiative. In June 2026, the company announced a $100 million Series C round and reported demonstrating quantum error correction on its neutral-atom hardware. Its AC1000 gate-based quantum computing platform is commercially available for on-premises deployment.
